SRINAGAR: J&K police on Friday arrested a government schoolteacher from Sopore in north Kashmir for misusing social media by “spreading false propaganda against the government”.
Police identified the accused as Tahir Nazir Shalla, who is working in the education department, and booked him under relevant sections of the IT Act for misusing social media by posting seditious and provocative posts highly prejudicial to maintenance of law and order.
“Besides, he was also running an anti-national campaign on social media and tried to create a false and fake narrative by spreading rumours with regard to the current security scenario of Kashmir Valley,” police said.
